Thursday, July 8, 6 – 8pm
Thursday, July 22, 6 – 8pm
There are a variety of ways to cast on for your new project.  Each one has it's own advantages and
maybe some disadvantages.  In this three part technique workshop we will explore many types of cast
ons.  We will start with the backwards e and move to such long tail cast ons as the long tail cast on,
Austrian, twisted German, long tail cast on in ribbing, and Channel Island.  We will also explore
different provisional cast ons and knitted cast ons such as knitted, cable, tubular and picot.  We will
look at cast ons in a circle to use for the top of a hat or the center of a circular shawl.  And if time
permits, we will explore other cast ons.  Advanced beginner to intermediate knitting skills are required

Fiber Trends Design by Bev Galeskas
This is one of our most popular classes.  We are now using a new revised version that is updated with a
narrower fit while still including information on adding width if needed.  Also new, are directions for
adding a novelty “fur” cuff.  These comfortable clogs are fast and easy to knit with either double
strand worsted weight or single strand bulky weight felting yarn.
Suggested Materials:  Yarn:  approximately 500 (540, 580, 670, or 720) yards per pair.  This
yardage allows for the yarn to be held double throughout.  Contrasting cuffs require from 50 to 70
yards depending on size.  Cuffs with novelty yarn require about 35 yards of a thick “fur” type
synthetic yarn that will hold up to the felting process;  Two-color clogs will require approximately 13
of the yardage in upper color and 2/3 in sole/cuff color.  Be sure to allow for some extra in each
color.  Adding width to your clogs will increase the yarn requirements.

your scarf.
