Charity Knitting Group
Starting Friday Dec 5th, String will be hosting a charity knitting group for the Salvation Army making
lap afghans for the elderly.  The group will start at 11am at the store, and everyone is welcome to come
and knit!  We have been asked to knit these afghans out of mostly acrylic yarns, so as to be washable.  
We carry Encore yarn that can be purchased.  Hope to see you there!

Wednesday Sweater Club!
Ongoing on Wednesdays at 11am we are hosting a sweater club!  We meet at the same time each week
and have a selection of sweaters to choose from.  The cost is free as long as you purchase your supplies

Fish Hat (Dead or Alive)

Do you have a budding fisherman or marine biologist in your midst?  Take your hat knitting skills a
step further by introducing stripping, short rowing and decorative features (pectoral fins) on hat.  Dot
the eye for alive, or cross it for dead.  This fun delightful project will bring smiles and comments to
your knitting prowess by learning the important concept of shortrowing.  Any worsted-weight wool or
wool/acrylic yarn that can be knitted to the gauge given, can be used.  Approx. 350-400yd/320-366m
will be needed, in a combination of colours.  Use any colors you like, and vary the stripes as you please!

Old Shale

A beginning lace class will explore this classic age old delightfully easy lace pattern.  Make a beautiful
scarf or cowl for luxurious warmth, comfort and compliments or even a baby blanket.  Choose your own
yarn (I recommend a fingering or dk weight) and use recommended needles on label.  The cowl will use
circular needles and will introduce you to working in the round in which you work on the front so there
is no purling on the backside like on the scarf.   Please prepare to have materials and pattern
purchased prior to class, casted on and a few rows knitted.

Three Tams

If you would like to learn stranded knitting, but without all the fuss of weaving ends in, this is the
class for you.  Choose one of three Fair Isle patterns offered in this pattern.  This is a beginner's
class to Fair Isle knitting using a self striping yarn as the contrast color to achieve the effect of a
more complicated Fair Isle pattern by using just two strands from cast on to cast off!

Faux Fair Isle

Learn a new stitch pattern which provides added warmth to a hat while producing a faux Fair Isle
pattern when using a self stripping yarn.  This hat uses one skein of Crystal Palace Taos yarn and size
7 circular needles and size 7 double pointed needles with the option of using size 5 circular or double
pointed needles smaller ribbing.  This is a great hat for learning left and right handed leaning
decreases.  Prepare by purchasing pattern and yarn to have ribbing completed prior to class.
